BATON ROUGE (March 9, 2023) – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) has announced operations for the Ida Sheltering Program are scheduled to end on May 31st. The state operated, federally supported program helped provide thousands of travel trailers to thousands of families impacted by Hurricane Ida, a Category 4 storm that hit the Louisiana coast in August of 2021.

We are encouraging any families still involved in the program to secure alternate temporary or permanent housing as quickly as possible. This deadline does not impact Ida survivors currently housed in FEMA’s Manufactured Housing Units (MHUs) or other programs.

Ida Sheltering Program staff are available to assist families with a plan to transition from the shelter unit. It is imperative that families remain engaged and in contact with Ida Sheltering staff regularly and proactively work with staff on their shelter transition plan. Ida Sheltering Program staff can be reached at 844-268-0301...
