How To Apply

State Training Application Process

First responders must submit a GOHSEP Training Application for any State conducted class.

The GOHSEP training application must be signed by the applicant, the applicant’s supervisor and the respective Director of the Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OEP), also known as the Parish Director.  Applications submitted without these three signatures will not be accepted and the applicant will be notified by phone or email of this action.

Responders can view the contact information for all Louisiana Parish Directors on the Parish EOC Contact Numbers page:

Once received, the Parish Director will sign and fax or email the application to the GOHSEP Training Branch.

Applicants will be notified by email or phone to confirm enrollment for each training class.

 Federal Training Application Process

Five Federal agencies actively provide WMD training to Louisiana responders:

   Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP)

Louisiana State University (LSU)
   Nevada Test Site (NTS)

New Mexico Tech (NMT)
Texas Engineering and Extension Service (TEEX)
The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) provides emergency management training classes

Each Federal training provider requires first responders to complete a specific registration process as outlined on each Federal website.

See our Federal Training Information page for a listing of the training websites, to review specific federal training classes and to complete the correct registration procedure.

We welcome your questions about Federal training classes.  Contact the Homeland Security Training Officer to assist with registration for Federal WMD training.

To apply for resident EMI courses, applicants must submit the EMI Training Application (FEMA 75-5 Application).  Applicants must sign the EMI application and then obtain a signature from the respective department/agency head.  Fax the completed application to the Emergency Management Training Officer at:  225-925-7512/7501.  Online EMI courses are completed at individual convenience and do not require a training application.
