Concerned,
As a
result of FEMA Disasters 1603 and 1607, Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita, the State of Louisiana will be
receiving funds from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
(HMGP). Funds for these disasters are available
statewide; however, the priority for funding will be to
those parishes most affected by the hurricanes. Eligible
applicants include Cities, Parishes, State Agencies,
certain Private Nonprofit Organizations, and Tribal
Nations.
To
assist eligible applicants in preparing an application
for HMGP funds, the State will host a training seminar
to include: Application Preparation, Environmental
Considerations, Benefit Cost Analysis, and Grants
Management. You are encouraged to carefully select
attendees for this training (i.e. who is responsible for
completing your application) and RSVP one of the
following dates and locations no later than December 20,
2005. Limited seating is available; therefore,
applicants in the parishes eligible to receive short
term funds will be given priority. Additional training
will be held in the near future for all eligible
applicants.
