Baton Rouge
– The Governor’s Office
of Homeland Security and
Emergency Preparedness
(GOHSEP) has released
Public Service
Announcements (PSAs) now
airing on radio and
television throughout
Louisiana to educate
citizens on what to do
in the event of an
emergency and how to
minimize damage to
property and prevent
loss of life.
“Get a Game Plan
is an aggressive GOHSEP
campaign focused on
protecting you from
hazardous dangers
anywhere in Louisiana -
from flooding to
tornados to ice storms –
as well as how to
mitigate or reduce the
risks we face from these
hazards,” said GOHSEP
Director Mark Cooper.
Appearing in the
commercials are former
NFL star defensive back
and LSU Head Football
Coach Jerry Stovall,
Governor Bobby Jindal,
Louisiana State Police
Col. Mike Edmonson and
GOHSEP Director Mark
Cooper. “A goal of the
campaign is keeping the
message fresh to avoid
apathy on the part of
the public toward a
potential disaster,”
said Cooper. “We are
fortunate to have
positive, influential
people such as Coach
Stovall to help us
educate the public.”
Prior PSAs have included
appearances by current
LSU Football Head Coach
Les Miles and members of
the rock band Better
than Ezra.
GOHSEP is an all-hazards
agency that manages
federal and state
disaster declarations
which include natural
and man-made disasters.
