BATON ROUGE (May 17, 2024) – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is urging everyone to stay vigilant as we face yet another potentially dangerous weather event Friday evening. According to the National Weather Service, the threats associated with this round include excessive rain with flooding likely in some areas, damaging winds and tornadoes.
BATON ROUGE (May 16, 2024) – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is encouraging everyone to stay weather aware as we face another round of potentially dangerous weather beginning tonight, with additional rounds in the forecast through Saturday. The GOHSEP Crisis Action Team will be monitoring any support requests from our local emergency managers.
BATON ROUGE (May 14, 2024) – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is currently in contact with our local emergency partners receiving damage assessments and other important information. A squall line with hurricane force winds and possible tornadoes caused damage from Southwest Louisiana through South Central Louisiana. Power outages peaked at more than 100-thousand customers mostly in the storm’s path. The numbers have dropped as utility crews were able to begin restoration efforts.
