COMPENSATION FOR VICTIMS OF THE GRAND THEATRE SHOOTING

  • The Louisiana Crime Victims Reparations Board, partially funded through the OVC-administered Crime Victims Fund, helps victims offset the financial burden of funeral, mental health, medical, and other expenses related to violent crimes, such as the shootings that took place at the Grand Theatre in Lafayette, Louisiana on July 23, 2015.

Donation and Services Information:

  • United Way of Acadiana, who is a Louisiana VOAD Member, has set up a donations portal on their site to collect funds. Additionally, interested donors can text their donations as well. Please see info below. A local coalition will then work to determine appropriate distribution and use of the funds.   • Louisiana Healthcare Connections Establishes Free Crisis Hotline in Response to Lafayette Shooting BATON ROUGE, La. - People across the state are grieving as a result of the shooting that occurred last night in Lafayette. When a devastating event like this occurs, we come together to offer support to those who are suffering.

 


Louisiana Healthcare Connections has established a 24-hour toll-free crisis hotline for the Lafayette community and those affected around the state. If you were impacted by this tragedy and would like to connect to a licensed clinician, we encourage you to call 1-877-941-8079. This line is staffed by behavioral health professionals offering counseling as well as referrals for additional local resources. This is a free service for the community; you do not need to be a Louisiana Healthcare Connections member to call.

  • In the event of mass casualty shootings, the National Center for Victims of Crime is poised to deploy the National Compassion Fund, an independent Fund set-up to provide a vehicle for the public to give directly to the victims. The National Center administers the Fund with 100% of the donations distributed directly to victims and their families without any restrictions.

The Grande Theatre Benefit Fund has been established at Iberia Bank to support the wounded and the families of Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson.
