How to identify a suspicious package

The United States Postal Service is doing everything they can to assure the safety of the public. They are moving quickly and decisively to put preventive measures in place for the protection of all citizens.

Examples of suspicious mail.

• Restrictive Markings
• Mailed From Foreign Country
• Misspelled Words
• Addressed to Title Only
• Rigid or Bulky
• Wrong Title with Name
• Lopsided
• Oily Stains on Wrapping
• Protruding Wires
• No Return Address
• Strange Oder
• Badly Typed or Written
• Excessive postage, no postage, or non-canceled postage
• Postmark showing different location than return address.
• No return address or fictitious return address
• Excessive use of tape, strings, etc.
• Packages marked as “Fragile – Handle with Care", “Rush-Do Not Delay,” “Personal” or “Confidential”.
• Suspicious or threatening messages on packages
