Intrastate Mutual Aid Subcommittee

The Intrastate Mutual Aid Subcommittee (Subcommittee) was created under the Unified Command Group (UCG), in 2010, as part of the authority of the Louisiana Homeland Security and Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act (Louisiana Disaster Act). The UCG is the State’s strategic decision-making body for emergency and disaster response.

The Subcommittee tracks and evaluates the activation and ongoing implementation of the Intrastate Mutual Aid Compact (IMAC) created by the Louisiana Disaster Act – LRS 29:739. IMAC enables Parish-to-Parish mutual aid in times of an emergency or disaster. IMAC provides for the sharing of resources and assets when a mutual aid agreement between Parishes is not in place.

With the availability of various Parish-owned equipment, material and personnel resources, the IMAC system maximizes the response capability for emergency personnel to respond to all hazard incidents. IMAC helps ensure a full response to any emergency event that may arise within the State.

Duties

Operationally, the Subcommittee has full authority to design, construct, administer and maintain the intrastate mutual aid system. The Subcommittee examines issues facing participating Parishes regarding IMAC implementation.

Membership

The Subcommittee is composed of all appropriate first responder and support organizations.
