BATON ROUGE (June 6, 2024) – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has closed the drawbridge along LA 77 between Grosse Tete and Plaquemine in Iberville Parish to traffic until further notice. The bridge was damaged by a vessel on the Port Allen Lock this morning at approximately 5:30 and will remain closed until further notice. Regional representatives from the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) are working with local officials to address any potential resources needed for this event.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident. No injuries have been reported.
Motorists should use an alternate route to bypass the closure.
