Hurricane Francine Recovery Assistance Available

Louisiana residents in the eight parishes declared for Individual Assistance can apply for federal disaster assistance by going online to disasterassistance.gov or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.

Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams are currently visiting neighborhoods in impacted areas to assist residents with applying for assistance or any other questions they may have. 

Disaster Support Centers (DSC) are being finalized and will open in the next few days.

Louisiana homeowners and renters in eight parishes who sustained losses caused by Hurricane Francine may be eligible for new FEMA assistance.

FEMA may be able to help with serious needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic home repair costs,personal property loss or other disaster-caused needs. Financial assistance is available to eligible homeowners and renters in Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes.

Serious Needs Assistance: A one-time $750 payment per household to help pay for essential items,including water, food, first aid, prescriptions, infant formula, breastfeeding supplies, diapers, consumable medical supplies, durable medical equipment, personal hygiene items and fuel for transportation.

Displacement Assistance: Money to help with immediate housing needs if you cannot return to your home because of the disaster. The money can be used to stay in a hotel, with family and friends or for other options while you look for temporary housing.

Serious Needs Assistance and Displacement Assistance are both funded after a completed inspection

Small Business Administration (SBA)

Loans Available 

• Business Physical Disaster Loans – Loans to businesses to repair or replace disaster-damaged property owned by the business, including real estate, inventories, supplies, machinery and equipment. Businesses of any size are eligible. Private, non-profit organizations such as charities, churches, private universities, etc., are also eligible.

• Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) – Working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small Farmers businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster. These loans are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period.

• Home Disaster Loans – Loans to homeowners or renters to repair or replace disaster-damaged real estate and personal property, including automobiles.

Applications for disaster loans may be submitted online using the MySBA Loan Portal at https://lending.sba.gov or other locally announced locations. Please contact the SBA’s Customer Service Center by email at [email protected] or by phone at 1-800-659-2955 for further assistance. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.
