GOHSEP Academy at UL Lafayette 

UL Lafayette - Safer Homes - Stronger Standards, Safer Homes: Solving Louisiana’s Insurance Crisis

This is a 2-day course. This class is split into different times:

Day one is 12 pm to 4 pm
Day two is 8 am to 12 pm

**If lodging/meal is requested, GOHSEP will coordinate with LEPA & the Double Tree Hotel and send out a confirmation email to participants. DEADLINE for requesting lodging/meals: November 25, 2025. Course Request Guidelines 

    • Must have a minimum of 30 calendar days notice for any request. 
    • Minimum 20 people registered. 
    • Minimum 30 calendar days in between requesting ICS-300 and ICS-400 courses. 
    • All participants must be registered in STEMS.
    • Some courses require vetting prerequisites before the start of the course.
    • No fees/costs.

What to Expect

Training courses, exercises, education, and outreach events are added often.

Attendance

  • Once enrolled, registered attendees are required to attend all scheduled training sessions.
  • Credit for course completion may not be granted to attendees who miss course instruction. a
  • Only the instructor or the GOHSEP Training + Exercise Branch can authorize an attendee’s absence.

Class Size + Cancellation

  • Training classes are conducted with a minimum of 20 students unless otherwise announced.
  • Maximum class size may vary depending upon specific course requirements.
  • Scheduled classes may be canceled based on insufficient registration, instructor availability, facilities, and funding. When class cancellation is necessary, Registrants are notified as soon as possible, and every effort is made to reschedule the course.

Cost

  • Class offerings are at NO CHARGE.
  • GOHSEP does not directly reimburse training attendees for per diem, travel, or lodging costs.
  • Jurisdictions should be prepared to pay associated travel costs for first responders who attend training.

Instructors

  • Louisiana first responders benefit from the experience and knowledge of GOHSEP-approved State training instructors.
  • To be considered, individuals must apply for approval to teach specified training classes.
  • Instructors are volunteers and not paid or reimbursed for costs incurred to instruct.
  • GOHSEP is actively recruiting qualified instructors to teach Emergency Management classes.
