Lafayette (August 8, 2024) The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is hosting cybersecurity training this week with a focus on law enforcement professionals. The Introduction to Cybersecurity for Leadership course includes explaining cybersecurity threats, teaching what to do in the event of a cybersecurity incident and planning factors for incident response.

“The number of cyberattacks continues to grow and those attacks have become much more sophisticated,” said GOHSEP Director Jacques Thibodeaux. “It is important for the state and our local partners to learn the latest methods to detect and respond to these threats. We appreciate all of our partners who helped make this training possible.”

Funding for the cybersecurity training was made available through the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association (LEPA) with donations from BLD Services, LLC and Storm Services, LLC.

LEPA Executive Director Chris Guilbeaux said, “We appreciate this public-private partnership to address a growing concern for law enforcement and our business community. Cyberattacks and data breaches can be extremely expensive to address. It is important for Louisiana to remain at the top of cybersecurity efforts to prevent and minimize the efforts of bad actors intent on causing problems.”
