Baton Rouge – The Louisiana National Guard (LANG) and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) invite members of the media to attend a hurricane preparedness news conference. The event marks the start of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry; Maj. Gen. Thomas Friloux, adjutant general of Louisiana; Brig. Gen. Jason Mahfouz, interim director of GOHSEP and state climatologist Jay Grymes will deliver remarks during a news conference, which coincides with GOHSEP’s quarterly Emergency Support Function meeting, focusing on the 20th Anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
This commemorative gathering will feature a display of emergency equipment and vehicles in the GOHSEP parking lot, showcasing the tools and resources integral to Louisiana's disaster response efforts. There will be time before and after the news conference for the media to view the equipment and vehicles on display.
